Downtown Associates Meeting November 9, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 9:35am by President Kim Bethel.
Treasurer’s Report: Current balance: $1441.68
Karen Conley introduced Debbie Nunziato as her replacement at the Library. Karen is retiring as of Nov. 13th. There will be reception at the north side Library from 4-6pm.
Old Business: Christmas Open House Nov 18-19-20. Lew and Susie Jones are collecting donations for the carriage rides. Kim said she spoke to the carriage company and they will be here on Dec 17th 2-4pm for a total cost of $1100.00. It was agreed that we will charge $3 for adults and $1 for children. The carriage will be in front of the court house and tickets will be sold at Cotton Pickin’ Cupboards. Serrelle Laine will get the tickets to Jim at Cupboards and JoAnn will get the sidewalk sign to him. Jividen’s will have photos with Santa on Friday 6-8pm, Saturday 2-4 pm and Sunday 2-4pm with hot cocoa and cookies. Jividen’s pays for the Santa. Gift Post will have Santa on Dec 17th from 2-4pm.Luminaries will be put out on Friday at 3:30pm by Serrelle with help on Water Street: Mulberry to Walnut, on Paint Street: Water Street to Main St, E Main Street: Paint Street to Mulberry and on W. Second Street in front of Hidden Treasures and More. Donations for the gift basket must be dropped off to Bernie & Max by 5pm on 11/11/11. Maxie from the Gift Post will assemble the basket. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 with forms to include name, phone, email address. Globe will display the basket and the drawing will be on the Tuesday after the open house. All entries must be dropped off to Globe by 5pm on Monday. Serrelle will distribute the Open House flags that were made up last year and use the poles that we use for the Shop & Stroll. JoAnn White reported that she ran an ad in the Town Moneysaver for $100. It was motioned and approved that we spend $500 in advertising. JoAnn will get info to the Advertisers in Fayette and Hocking county in addition to the section running in the Chillicothe Gazette. Kevin Coleman took information to put on Clear Channel. We will have a crawl on Horizon for free. Karen Conley announced the Downtown Library will have elves in the downtown on Saturday 12-1 and story time at 2pm. The Eastern Star Temple is also having a bazaar on Saturday which should bring additional people to the downtown.
Cookie Tin Tour: Serelle Laine reported that 1oo tickets will be sold for $20 for the tour on Saturday Dec 10th. It coincides with the Shop & Stroll. As of this meeting, 16 shops have committed to participate. Serrelle sent guidelines and commitment forms to all Downtown shops. The CVB designed the tickets with a map. There will be a ten dollar coupon for use at Schlegel’s, Old canal Smoke House or Mary Jane’s to use that day for lunch. Those restaurants will receive a $5 reinbursement for any tickets they turn into the DTA. Lunch tickets must be used the day of the tour only. Kim will have half page fliers made with the Open House info on one side and the Cookie Tour on the other. It was motioned and approved that Serrelle has a budget of $200 for the Cookie Tin Tour. The CVB will email the list made from the 2010 tour entry forms.
Calendars: Kim passed the calendar proof around for approval. JoAnn White motioned and Marilyn Young seconded that the Spring Open House be put on the calendar forApril 13-14-15. Calendars will be sold for $2 with one dollar going to the DTA and $1 to the shop owners.

November Shop & Stroll: Sherman Williams has donated unused paint cans for donations to Christmas Smiles sponsored by AIRVAC, Tom Johnson.
